Deadman's 5 next Friday

The third race in this year's Outfield Sports Three-Counties Challenge will be the very popular Deadman's 5-mile road race in Carrick-on-Suir on next Friday, 3rd June. Entry for the race is €10 and race registration from 6pm will be at the Swan GAA Hall, Parkside, next to the library. Changing facilities will be available. Part proceeds of this year's event will go to the local Carrick River Rescue   service. Intending participants should note that registration will close at 7:10pm as the race must start at 7:30 pm sharp. This is due to the race route passing over the railway crossing on the Cregg road. The race start will not be delayed to accommodate late entrants so please make sure you get to the Swan Hall in good time to register.

There will be prizes in all of the usual age categories as well as men's and ladies' team prizes. Prize-giving and post-race refreshments will be back at the Swan Hall. Last year's race was won by Clonmel AC's Kevin Maunsell in 24:45 while Siobhan O' Doherty from Borrisokane AC took the ladies' race in 28:26. As the race route takes in a lot of junctions through the town, we would be very grateful for any assistance with stewarding. Any club members who will be available to help on the night should contact Barry on 087-6243637.

Carrick AC's Brian Murphy maintained his recent winning run when taking first place in the Ardmore 5-mile race last Friday. Brian came home in a time of 26:00, almost a minute ahead of second-placed Trevor Power (Waterford AC). Patrick Roche put in a fine run to finish in seventh place with a time of 29:04. Gerard Murphy (32:42), Mary Molloy (33:44) and Geraldine Houlihan (41:44) all ran very well in the Carrick AC colours. Well done to all our runners.
