Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club Notes 21st January 2008

The very well attended club AGM took place on Thursday 17th January in the Carraig Hotel. It was a very constructive meeting in which many proposals were put forward which should see the club grow in strength over the coming 12 months. The new committee is as follows: Chairman-Alan Treacy; Secretary-Barbara Cooke; Treasurer-Darragh Byrne; PRO-Johnny Brunnock; Club Captain-Mark Connolly; Committee-Geraldine Lynch, Pat O'Sullivan, Mags Power, Jackie Dunne, James Fox and John O'Sullivan. Club Chairman Alan Treacy thanked the outgoing committee for its hard work over the previous 12 months and wished the club members luck in achieving that PB in 2008.

Club membership is now due for all club members both new and old. For insurance reasons we cannot over stress how important it is to become a member of the club and the AAI. Membership forms are available from any committee member or at the winter league and the fee is €30 for the entire year. Join today!

Club Person of the Year
One of the benefits of club membership is that you will be eligible for the Club Person of the Year competition which has just got under way for 2008. Any athlete who competes in an official AAI club event (open race or championship) will receive 1 point. Club members will also receive 1 point for helping organise one of the club events which now includes 24 races throughout the year including the Super-Valu Winter League, Outfield Sports/Summer Series, 1 Mile Challenge Series and the GOAL Mile. Club treasurer Darragh Byrne will adjudicate the competition and details are available at the Winter League. Congratulations to last year's winner Alan Treacy. The overall winner of each years club person of the year competition is automatically disallowed from the following years competition but is re-instated for the year after that.

Super-Valu Winter League and that New Year's Resolution!
A reminder to all that the club's Winter League is back from its Christmas break since Tuesday night last the 8th January. It will take place every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Kildalton College, Piltown, with registration commencing from 6:30 p.m. New runners are still welcome and you can join in right up to and including our last competitive night which is 12th February. For new members entry is €8 (this includes a refundable €5 number deposit), entry is €3 every other week. Most importantly please remember your reflective bib and any runner without a bib will not be allowed to register on the night.
