Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club, Co. Tipperary, Ireland

Carrick Road Runners Athletic Club Notes 15th October 2007

Every Tuesday night for the winter of 2007/08 all roads lead to Kildalton College, Piltown for the Super-Valu Winter League promoted by Carrick-on-Suir AC. All runners from beginners to regular club runners are invited to come along. Remember the winter league system encourages everyone to improve their own time, so the only person you are racing against is yourself! Registration each Tuesday night takes place between 6:30 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. with the first runner off at 7 p.m. sharp. Entry is just €3 and with thanks to our sponsors Super-Valu, Carrick-on-Suir there is a great prize-list up for grabs. Also any runner who competes in all 14 winter league nights from Tuesday October 23rd to February 12th will be automatically entered in a draw to win a €100 shopping voucher for Super-Valu. So that is one extra incentive to get you off the sofa every Tuesday evening! Runners can choose from the 2.5k or 5k distance. Please remember your reflective bib and as the saying goes ‘no bib-no run'.

Please let Darragh know of any races that you have competed in and you will receive 1 point. The club member with the biggest points tally on the night of the last winter league before Christmas will be declared the winner. The prize will be presented to the winner on our Christmas party night.

Fit 4 Life
On Saturday last three club members attended at a Fit 4 Life training day at DCU, Dublin. Jackie Dunne, Johnny Brunnock and Geraldine Lynch travelled to the Course which was organised by the AAI. The Fit 4 Life programme recognises clubs that actively encourage participation by recreational runners and aims to support these clubs. Carrick-on-Suir AC has always been proactive in this regard as indicated by the fact that in 18 months our membership has grown from 12 to over 60 and counting. The club will shortly be unveiling its all new Fit 4 Life programme, giving details of who to contact and how to get involved so watch this space and start limbering up!
