Family Carers Ireland 5K Fun Run/Walk. Clonmel (1200hrs Sunday 21 October 2018)

The Family Carers Ireland 5K Fun Run / Walk took place at Powerstown Park, Clonmel last Sunday the 21st October, the funds raised at this event go towards services & supports for the Clonmel Centre of Family Carers Ireland. This event was supported by club member John Carroll and Mary Molly, well done to both

 

Autumn Open International Cross-Country Festival Abbottstown, Co. Dublin (1445hrs Sunday 21 October 2018)

The Autumn Open Cross-Country Festival 2018 got underway at the National Sports Campus at Abbottstown, Co Dublin on Sunday 21st October, this event had cross county races in Under 20, Senior and Master in both male and female,

With Senior Athletes competing to improve chances for getting future team places on the Irish European XC team in 2019. The master athletes were battling for places for the British and Irish Masters championships which takes place at Swansea in Wales next month on Saturday 17 November.

Patrick Roche competed in the men’s M40 7500 metre race, this race was won by Brian Maher, Kilkenny City Harriers, in 23.29. Patrick who finished well outside any qualifying position for Swansea, finishing in 22nd place, time 27.58, will now look forward to competing for the rest of the cross-country season.

 

Dublin Marathon 2018 (0900hrs Sunday 28October 2018)

The Dublin Marathon got underway last Sunday 28 October in very good weather conditions. The overall winnersin thefemale racewas Mesera Dubiso from Ethiopia in 2:33:48 and in the male race Asefa Bekele from Ethiopiain 2:13:23. The event also held the AAI Nation Marathon Championships 2018 the winners in this event was in the women’s race was Lizzie Lee, Leevale AC in 2:35:04 and the men’s race Mick Clohisey, Raheny Shamrock AC in 2:15:57. Well done to our following members who gave months running high mileage and hard training to prepare for this event.
