Marine Climb 6-mile West Waterford AthleticsClub (1930 hrs Thursday 02 August 2018)
The Marine Climb6-mile road race 2018 got underway last Thursday evening on 2nd August, this is an interesting A to B race that starts at Dungarvan town, travel out the road for about 3 miles with the remainder of the race having a continue hill climb for 2.5 to 3 mile and finishing at the Marine Bar. The race winners were Kevin O’Leary, East Cork AC in 34.53 and Madeline Loughnan, Thurles Crokes AC in 40.20, Our sole representative in the race, Benny Hahessy put in a great performance to finish in 40.50 and win 1st o/45 prize.
The Sergeant Keith Ferguson 5K Run/Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge (Sunday 05 August 2018)
Miguel De Ponce Leon took part in The Sergeant Keith Ferguson 5K Run/Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge at New York on Sunday 5th August 2018,this was massive field with over 500 runners taking part, winning times were in the Men’srace was Luis Villaneva, (Balam Mexico)in 17.26 and Womens race was Karen Oyama (Puyallup,WA) in 22.15. Miguel Battle away in the super-hot condition which included crossing the BrooklynBridge to finished in 15 place overall
Ballyduff 5 Mile Road RaceBallyduff Lower (West Waterford AC) (1930hrs Friday 12August 2018)
The Liz Hayes Memorial Ballyduff 5-mile road race 2018 got underway last Friday evening at Ballyduff Lower. The race was hosted by West Waterford AC on lovely bright evening. Race winners were Trevor Power, Waterford AC in 26.30 and Madeline Loughnane, Thurles Crokes AC in30.56.Our club members ran very well on what was an up and down hilly course, our first finisher was Barry Torpey in 35.14 followed with fine running form Mary Molloy in 37.00, Deirdre Power in 40.04, Derek O’Dwyer in 41.28, Margaret Power in 41.30, Sean Dunne in 44.02, Sinead Dunne in 44.40, Jackie Dunne in 48.31 and Ger Glascott in 48.49. well done to all.
